The University of Utah offers a full array of courses in graduate physics, astrophysics, and astronomy. These courses, along with research opportunities with our faculty, enable students to receive a Ph.D. in Physics. Our Ph.D. program has several specialization tracks, including the Astronomy and Astrophysics Track.

The University of Utah offers both an Astronomy minor and a Physics major with an Astronomy & Astrophysics Emphasis. Here are some resources if you are interested in learning some astronomy:

• The Undergraduate Handbook (click "Undergraduate Handbook" on this page) has both the degree requirements for the minor and for the major with an Astronomy & Astrophysics Emphasis.
• Note that PHYS/ASTR 3070 is the "gateway" course to our astronomy course offerings; this is offered each fall, and we are exploring the possibility of a spring option as well. Other courses may be offered only every two years. Please talk to an academic advisor if you need help planning your Physics & Astronomy curriculum.
